A splendid marriage sheet loomed of a pure white "fil de lin" linen sumptuously embroidered throughout the turnback. This beautiful sheet has a bold central monogram, "AM," embroidered in an important relief of bourdon and framed in an art deco style oval medallion decorated with raised polka dots. The sheet return has a truly exceptional display of drawn thread work, with multiple rows converging in an elaborate openwork triangle in each corner and then continuing up the side of the return for a full 36in. An scalloped border of openwork flowers in alternating rounds and points is achieved in Richelieu embroidery, making for an elaborate display at once stylized and feminine. And a small touch of elegance -the hem at the foot of the sheet is executed in an openwork hemstitch. This piece very likely dates from the early 20th century and is in impeccable condition! Dimensions: 132 x 90in.
