A marvelously delicate and very pretty piece this pillow sham, loomed of a feather weight white linen batiste, has a monogram "MV" embroidered in bourdon in one corner and framed in an oval of little embroidered polka dots. A spray of flowers, embroidered in bourdon and tige point embellish each of the four corners and a lovely crossed drawn thread row frames the square. The outer edge is finished by a softly scalloped border, itself embroidered with scattered polka dots in bourdon, and closure at the back with five mother-of-pearl buttons. Overall a sham with a lovely but understated elegance! Early 20th century. Impeccable condition. Dimensions: interior 27 x 26in, exterior 37 x 36in.
