An exceptional showpiece of a marriage sheet and its two matching shams, this splendid set is a simply beautiful labor of love! Loomed a medium weight pure white linen/cotton blend the sheet has a fancy central monogram"FL" embroidered in a scrolling bourdon and accented with sprigs of leafy rosebuds. The entire return is embroidered in bouquets of Renaissance cutwork flowers and bows in bourdon with trailing whitework daisies strung between them. The embroidery continues along the height of each side of the return for a full 26 inches. The two shams, monogrammed "FL" in one corner, are also embroidered with Renaissance cutwork flowers that continue around the full perimeter of each sham. The monograms are coordinated but not identical to the one on the sheet. They close at the back with five white glass buttons. This sheet and sham set likely dates from the mid 20th century and is in impeccable condition. Dimensions: sheet 138 x 88.5in., shams interior 23 x 23in., exterior 29.5 x 29.5in.
