Butterflies adorn this perfectly darling pair of pillow shams loomed of a pure white, medium to heavy weight "fil de lin" linen. These pretty shams have a central monogram "SN" embroidered in an important relief of bourdon, framed in a diamond and set atop an embroidered butterfly. The butterfly motif repeats in each of the two upper corners with little embroidered suns shining on them and budding flowers dotting the space in between. A row of drawn thread work ties together the embroidered motifs and a second row frames the edge of the sham. These shams likely date from the 1930 - 40's and are in perfectly new, never used condition. They close at the back with five mother-of-pearl buttons.
