A spectacular antique marriage handkerchief rare both for its unusual lace border and for the fact that it remains in its original and perfect state, never having been used or even having touched water! This is perhaps the reason for which it bears no monogram as for whatever reason, it didn't serve at a wedding. The body of the handkerchief is hand loomed of a very fine ecru lawn linen and the border is executed in Luxeuil ribbon lace and a variety of very fine bobbin lace points, all of which make for an unusual, fine and very decorative piece. This handkerchief likely dates from the turn of the 20th century and is in perfectly new condition. Its ecru color, that of the original linen, will certainly whiten with subsequent launderings.
