An exceptional and beautiful white coverlet entirely hand made of an Irish guipure style crocheted cotton. This magnificent piece has a latticework pattern of squares, each with a motif of tightly crocheted leaves connected by brides. The border picks up on the leaf design of the interior, making for a decorative scalloped edge. Lacy in design and feeling, this coverlet is nevertheless quite solid and sturdy as it's made from a weighty and tightly worked cotton thread. A work of considerable skill and innumerable hours of tedious labor, this lovely piece likely dates from the early 20th century and is in impeccable condition. Dimensions: 73 x 73in.
