A bold and beautifully rendered monogram, "HB," elegantly adorns the center of this antique sheet, the letters finely embroidered in raised bourdon and the finest post point stitches and measuring an important 8.5" high by 7" wide. The sheet, in remarkably new, never used condition, is loomed of a soft, supple, medium weight and very tightly woven pale ecru linen. The entire sheet return, as well as the monogram, are decorated with a motif of ears of wheat - the symbol of abundance and prosperity! - embroidered in unusually high and perfect relief. Two rows of lace-like crossed drawn thread embroidery frame the wheat-ear motif and trace the full width of the sheet. The hem at the foot is hand-stitched with miniscule stitches. Likely dating from the turn of the 20th century, this marvelous sheet is in impeccable, unused condition! Dimensions: 130 x 89in.
