Understated elegance (as the French do so well!) describes this simply stunning antique queen sheet. Loomed of some of the finest pure white "fil de lin" linen, tightly loomed for durability but extremely supple and silken to the touch, this stunning sheet is all about the monogram... Front and center the initials, "BG," are exquisitely embroidered in an uncommon relief of bourdon and accented with padded embroidered flowers and delicate leafy vines that twine around each letter and culminate in little clusters of berries. The only other embellishment is a wide and elaborate three tier drawn thread row of embroidery, made up of a wide lacy band and two smaller crossed drawn thread rows, that run along the entire border of the sheet's turn down and serve to underscore the monogram. The hem at the foot of the sheet is hand stitched with miniscule points. Truly a sublime work in both design and execution, this lovely sheet likely dates from the late 19th century and is in impeccable, as-new condition. Dimensions: 118 x 94.5in.
