Early 19th c. Lace Bridal Hanky

Early 19th c. Lace Bridal Hanky

Unusually large handkerchief, or small "fichu," in a whisper of delicate ecru lawn linen with a bouquet of embroidered flowers and bows in relief at each corner. A border of tiny, jewel-like embroidered leaves as well as a double lace border of Valenciennes and net lace frame the piece. This handkerchief is distinguished by the fact that the lawn is hand loomed and the net lace hand made in a singular work without seams. Some small scattered holes in the lawn ground (visible in photos) but overall very good condition. Late 18th - early 19th c. Dimensions: 22x 22in.
