As delightful as it's beautiful, this sheet and single sham set is loomed of a very refined ecru linen/cotton blend. A large fancy monogram "BC," (measuring 10 x 5 inches) embroidered in thickly padded bourdon and embellished with sprigs of flowers, occupies the center of the sheet as well as the sham. And all along the sheet return and sham border a wonderfully playful embroidered motif of butterflies alighting on a branch is interspersed with a river of drawn thread embroidery that continues as well along 41.5 inches of the height of each side of the return. This set likely dates from the mid 20th century, is very refined in its quality and remains in perfectly new condition, having never been used. Hand hemmed.
