A stunning set of 11 very large napkins loomed of a lightweight, exceptionally fine and excellent grade of ecru linen damask. Each napkin has a central monogram "JM" embroidered in bourdon with tiny flecks of red thread incorporated into the stitching of each letter. The photo of the monogram is greatly enlarged, thus giving it a slightly rough looking quality but in fact the embroidery is extremely fine, even and accomplished. The overall damask motif is floral with a repeating pattern of very pretty open flowers and buds, and a large frieze with a complimentary abstract pattern frames the border. This napkin set was purchased with a larger lot of exceptionally fine linens all of which belonged to the same aristocratic family. Hand-hemmed. Dimensions: 34.5 x 29in.
