Vintage Boudoir Pillow Sham

Simply stunning embroidery decorates this lovely white linen boudoir pillow sham! A large central diamond of Venetian lace is surrounded by a fabulous figural Richelieu embroidery with fat little cupids in each corner. The edge is finished by a two inch bobbin lace border scalloped in points. This piece was likely realized at two different times. The embroidered face was likely a pillow cover or decorative centerpiece that was later artisanally transformed into a sham. The back of the piece, although well done, is made of cotton and was realized with a hand less refined than the one that created the embroidery. Nevertheless, it's a charming and quite functional realization that incorporates 11 mother of pearl buttons which close at the back. Impeccable condition.
