A very pretty service of twelve large napkins loomed of a pure white linen damask with an ornate central monogram "GT" embroidered in a fancy scrolling bourdon and embellished with sprigs of leaves and berries. Each monogram is set in the middle of a wonderful oval medallion with an ornamental fleur de lys motif and the damask features as well a large frieze with full open roses. A second border frieze is made of curling ribbons interspersed with flowers. This very pretty service likely dates from the early to mid 20th century and has the interesting feature, typical of this period, of having its hemmed edges turned up instead of down to form a decorative edge. Impeccable condition. Dimensions: 31.5 x 26.5in.
