An absolute jewel of a monogram adorns this beautiful service of eight very large dinner napkins. The initials, "RT," embroidered in a very fine plumetis and post point are interwoven, accented with tiny fleur de lys and framed in an oval medallion. A motif of very large ribboning bows and polka dots creates a luxuriant border in the damask with a contrasting narrow striped motif in the interior. These napkins are loomed of a excellent quality of pure white linen, crisp but very silky to the touch and with a subtle sheen. The hems are hand sewn with miniscule stitches and the service is in impeccable condition. Early to mid 20th century. OF NOTE: One of the eight napkins is curiously smaller than the other seven but it nevertheless has the full damask motif and the identical monogram; thus it wasn't shortened or altered but rather originally fashioned from a length of damask with a smaller version of the same pattern. Dimensions: 35.5 x 30in., one napkin 27 x 26in.
