An elegant and pretty sheet and two pillow sham ensemble monogrammed "JC." This lovely set is loomed of an excellent quality pale ecru blend of "fil de lin" linen and cotton, with a predominant percentage of linen to cotton. A large central monogram, embroidered in bourdon in high relief, is ensconced in a bouquet of openfaced flowers in the center of the sheet, with smaller versions in the corner of each pillow sham. A wide "river" of drawn thread work, consisting of six rows of embroidery, runs the entire length of the return as well as an important 43" of the height on either side, and a single tiny hemstich underscores the return. The shams have matching drawn thread work which frame all four sides and six mother-of-pearl buttons at the back for closure. This splendid ensemble likely dates from the early 20th century and is in impeccable condition. Dimensions: sheet 136 x 90.5in., shams interior 27 x 27in., exterior 32 x 32in.
