Exceptional and stunningly beautiful marriage sheet and sham set monogrammed "HJ" and loomed of a luxuriously white and weighty "fil de lin" linen. This striking ensemble is very elaborately hand embroidered throughout the sheet return as well as along the borders of the shams with a feast of flowers in Renaissance cutwork. A large monogram is embroidered in an important relief of bourdon in the center of the sheet and the corners of the shams and decorated with sprays of embroidered leaves and berries. The cutwork embroidery runs along each side of the sheet return for a full 50 inches. The hem of the sheet is hand sewn with miniscule stitches and the shams each close at the back with five little mother-of-pearl buttons. This perfectly beautiful set dates likely from the turn of the 20th century and is rare in that it's in excellent, as new condition. Of note there is just a faint shadow of a storage mark near the foot of the sheet which will disappear in subsequent launderings. Dimensions: sheet 122 x 90.5in., shams interior 29.5 x 28.5in., exterior 34 x 33in.
