An unusual and very beautiful large square tablecloth and seven napkin service monogrammed "SP" that is loomed of a luxuriously fine and silky Venetian yellow linen damask. This service, dating from the 1920's to early 30's, has an overall moire pattern in the damask with a grand motif of large bows and ribbons threaded through eyelets that forms an interior frame and is repeated on a larger scale as a border frieze. The napkins have an identical pattern and monogram in a smaller register. All of the hems are hand stitched and the service is in impeccable vintage condition. Linen damask services in bright colors were typical of the art deco period in France of the early 20th century and are relatively sought after and rare items! Dimensions: tablecloth 76.5 x 75.5in., napkins 27x 26in.
