A stunning antique child's dress and matching bonnet in embroidered ecru silk tulle. This beautiful little dress is decorated throughout the skirt, sleeves and broad cape-like collar with clusters of bows, flower buds, and grains of wheat (the symbol of prosperity and abundance) with tiny jewel-like medallions in between each bouquet. The embroidery is masterfully executed in an unusual relief of bourdon for the bows and wheat grains, and Richelieu openwork for the flower buds. Tiny mother-of-pearl buttons fasten at the back. A "Charlotte" style bonnet with similar embroidery on the cap and a tulle all-around ruffle accompanies the dress and makes for a simply stunning ensemble! Likely dating from the very early 20th century, this set is in impeccable condition. Dimensions: overall length 28.5in., width across chest 20.5in., width between the shoulders 15in. Suitable for a child of 4 to 5 years old.
