A stunning service of twelve very large napkins loomed of an unusually weighty pale grey linen. These lovely napkins a have bold and beautiful central monogram, "MD," embroidered in an exceptional relief of bourdon. The damask has an overall geometric pattern of snowflakes in a latticework motif with striped bands around the borders. The linen is not only unusually weighty but also has a textured relief in the weave which gives these pieces a hearty and earthy quality. Probably dating from the late 19th century, this service is hand hemmed and in impeccable condition. Dimensions: 29 x 26in.
