A rare find this charming little girl's frock likely dates from the late 19th century and is a marvel of fine hand work. Entirely hand made of a beautiful cream colored cotton piquÃ© it's trimmed at the neck, sleeves and hem of the full skirt with English cutwork ruffles embroidered in red and blue. The front and back of the bodice are hand smocked and hand embroidered red rick-rack decorates the bodice and trims the bottom of the skirt. Even the waist and seams around the sleeves are elegantly finished with tiny rows of hand made piping! Four mother-of-pearl buttons close along a pleated placket in the back. Impeccable condition. Dimension: overall length 21.5in., width at the waist 12in., width across the shoulders 8.5in. Suitable for a child of 18 months to three years.
