A stunning and extra large pair of embroidered antique pillow shams in a medium weight eggshell white linen. These beautiful shams have a wide and very pretty scalloped border embroidered around the edges with picots and in each corner with rows of drawn thread ladderwork. Stylized lilies are embroidered with an important relief of bourdon in the interior of each scallop. Each sham closes at the back with five mother-of-pearl button closures. This beautiful pair of pillow shams likely dates from the early 20th century and is in impeccable condition. Of note: the face of the shams is loomed of pure linen but the backs are loomed of a fine linen/cotton blend. Dimensions: interior 25.5 x 25in., exterior 33 x 32.5in.
