Both very refined and very pretty this pair of pillow shams is loomed of a lovely pure white and luxurious grade of "fil de lin" linen. Each has a discreet monogram, "MB," finely embroidered in one upper corner of each sham, the letters superimposed and terminating with tiny fleurs de lys, symbol of nobility. A delicate double row of crossed drawn-thread embroidery defines the edges of the pillow pockets and a lovely, broad, hand scalloped border embroidered with flowers frames each piece. Closure at the back with tiny mother-of-pearl buttons. Likely dating from the end of the 19th to beginning of the 20th century, this beautiful pair of shams is in impeccable condition.
