A luxuriously fine antique sheet with a gorgeous monogram and an elegantly sober design. This lovely sheet is loomed of the absolute finest quality of pure white "fil de lin" linen, silken to the touch and fluid and weighty in its drape. A magnificent central monogram, "CR" or "RC," embroidered in an important relief of bourdon and post point, is encased in a frame of embroidered pearls and embellished with pretty open-faced daisies. The entire sheet return is decorated with a series of lacy openwork medallions that are connected by three parallel rows of drawn thread embroidery, and a fourth row of crossed drawn thread work underscores the motif and finishes the edge of the sheet. The openwork motif continues up each side of the sheet return for a height of 32 inches. The hem of the sheet is elegantly finished with an openwork hemstitch - a sign of the quality of its fabrication. This superb sheet likely dates from the turn of the twentieth century and is in impeccable, as-new condition. Dimensions: 126 x 90.5in.
