A very pretty pair of antique pillow shams monogramed "MB" with an elegant and sober design. These lovely shams are loomed of an egg-shell white blend of "fil de lin" linen and cotton. The monograms are finely embroidered in an important relief of bourdon framed within an embroidered diamond and accented with triangles made of small embroidered polka dots. Two concentric bands of delicate crossed drawn-thread embroidery create an inner frame in which is inset small Venetian lace "snowflakes." A small ladderwork hemstitch finished the border and the shams close at the back with six tiny mother-of-pearl buttons. These shams likely date from the Art Deco period of the early 20th century and are in impeccable, as-new condition! Dimensions: interior 26 x 25.5in., exterior 30 x 29.5in.
