An exquisite pair of top quality antique pure white "fil de lin" linen pillow shams with a stunning central monogram "MD." The letters, finely embroidered in bourdon and post point are framed in a diamond with inset filet lace, all of which makes for a jewel-like monogram! The upper portion of each sham is decorated with an large inset band of floral filet lace which is bordered by a finely embroidered scalloped edge. A row of ladderwork drawn thread embroidery finsishes the four sides and the shams close at the back with five mother-of-pearl buttons. This pair of shams likely dates from the early 20th century and is in impeccable, as-new condition. Dimensions: interior 27.5 x 27.5in., exterior 31.5 x 31.5in.
