As lovely a pair of antique pillow shams as one could hope to find, these elegant shams are loomed of a pure white, top quality "fil de lin" linen. Each sham is adorned in the opposing corner with an exquisite monogram "LR" very finely embroidered in an important relief of bourdon, filled with tiny embroidered pearls in the stem of each letter, and then embellished in the center with delicate floral sprays. The sham borders have a hand embroidered scalloped edge with flowers, pearls and little bows embroidered in the wells of the scallops. A sign of the quality of their handwork is the delicate drawn thread openwork that defines the perimeter of each envelope. Likely dating from the late 19th century, these shams close at the back with six small mother-of-pearl buttons and are in impeccable, as-new condition!
