A sober and elegant pure white linen damask formal tablecloth with twelve matching napkins. This lovely service, loomed of a particularly silken linen damask, features a stately monogram, MV, embroidered in a good relief of plumetis and seed stitch, and accented with tiny leaves and berries. Two large monograms in mirror image adorn the center of the tablecloth and a single one in the center of each of the twelve napkins. The damask motif, of stylized snowflakes, shows excellent separation and all of the hems are executed by hand with miniscule stitches. This handsome service, very likely dating from the mid to late 19th c., has come through time in very good condition. Dimensions tablecloth: 111 X 60 in., napkins: 32 x 26in.
