A superb pair of pillow shams loomed of a luxuriously delicate pure white linen batiste with a fancy monogram "FE" embroidered in one corner. This beautiful pair of shams has a lovely hand embroidered scalloped edge with decorative bows and flowers embroidered in the two upper corners in plumetis and tige point. The monogram is germanic in style and executed in double rows of bourdon and plumetis dots with a tiny flower sprig adorning each letter. All around, a very fine quality of materials and craft! The shams close at the back with three large mother-of-pearl buttons. Late 19th to early 20th c. Perfect condition. Dimensions: 27 x 27in. plus 4in. border
