A perfectly adorable infant sham loomed of a fine and silky pure white "fil de lin" linen and embroidered with butterflies in bourdon, post point and Richelieu all along the upper edge and in all four corners. Two parallel rows of drawn thread embroidery frame the design. This pretty little sham is a masterful piece of work, entirely realised by an adept hand, and likely dates from the early 20th century. Closure at the back with five small mother-of-pearl buttons. Impeccable condition. Dimensions: 17 x 14.5in.
