A lovely antique sheet with a homespun, country feel. This charming queen sized sheet is loomed of medium weight ecru "fil de lin" linen with a soft irregularity to its weave and a supple, fluid drape. A bold central monogram, "CM," is exquisitely embroidered in satin stitch with an important relief and ornamented with a graceful spray of flowers, leaves and berries done in English cutwork and plumetis. A three inch band of inset hand-made bobbin lace underscores the monogram and runs along the entire width of the sheet return, itself bordered by a large and lovely crossed drawn-thread row of embroidery. This delightful sheet, likely dating from the end of the 19th century, has come throught the ages in impeccable, as-new condition! Dimensions: 126 x 90.5in.
