A beautifully romantic pair of pillow shams loomed of a very fine pure white "fil de lin" linen with an important fancy monogram "RG" embroidered in bourdon. The initials are accented with a pretty spray of flowers and buds embroidered in bourdon, post and tige point. An unusually large scalloped ruffle surrounds each sham and is entirely embroidered in English cutwork flowers and reembroidered with delicate vines in tige point. Four mother-of-pearl buttons close at the back. Dating likely from the early to mid 20th century these shams are in impeccable condition. Dimensions: interior 23 x 22in., exterior 31 x 30in.
