A magnificent antique table service that reveals quality in every large and small detail! This truly beautiful ensemble comprises an important tablecloth and its eleven matching napkins, all loomed of a weighty, silken and supple egg-shell white linen damask with a delicate sheen and a luxurious drape. The tablecloth is adorned in its center with two large opposing monograms, "DC," exquisitely embroidered with an important relief and accented with finely detailed leaves and berries. The overall damask motif is one of large, billowy flowers and a stylized floral frieze that defines the borders. The eleven accompanying napkins are embroidered in their center with the same elegant "DC" monogram and show the same floral damask motif although in a smaller register. All of the hems are hand-sewn with miniscule stitches. Notable for its superb quality and stellar beauty, this lovely service has come through the ages in impeccable, as-new condition! A charming historical detail of note is that the initials, DC, indicate its provenance, that of belonging to a M. Dhome and a Mme. Courty of Billom, France. In the year 1860, the year of their marriage, this service was undoubtedly a significant part of their dowry. Dimensions: tablecloth 110 x 95 in., napkins 35.5 x 29.5 in.
