A simply stunning and very unusual large antique embroidered handkerchief with true "belle epoque" style dating from the early Art Nouveau period of around 1890. This superb piece is loomed of a very fine ecru lawn linen and displays a magnificent border in tulle finely appliqued and embroidered with twining grape vines laden with fruit and furling leaves. The contrast of the delicate tulle and the impeccable precision of the embroidered vines makes for a truly stunning piece of craftsmanship! This beautiful handkerchief is in its original state, never having been used or even having touched water, and is thus in excellent condition. There are, nevertheless, one or two tiny pinholes in the tulle due to age (visible in the photos). Dimensions: 17.5 x 17in.
