A sublime antique queen sheet and two pillow sham set that will not set the stage of any bedroom! This delightful ensemble is loomed of a pure white, summer-weight and silken "fil de lin" linen that is almost a batiste, tightly loomed and solid yet airy and fine. The sheet is adorned with a magnificent central monogram, "JP," fluid in its design, embroidered in satin stitch with precision and relief, and embellished with a graceful spray of lilies. An embroidered lily motif, interspersed with delicate drawnthread embroidered rows, extends across the entire width of the sheet return and continues up either side for a full 25 inches. The two matching shams are each framed with the identical embroidered lily motif and drawnthread rows, and each bear the same monogram in a smaller register in opposing corners that balance out at the head of the bed. Each sham closes at the back with five tiny mother-of-pearl buttons and the sheet is hemmed by hand with miniscule stitches. This gorgeous set likely dates from the end of the 19th century and has remained in immaculate condition! Dimensions: 128 x 90.5in.
