antique lace and embroidered baby dress
As pretty as can be this darling little baby dress is fashioned of a fine white cotton with vertical stripes delicately pricked in the weave. The bodice is entirely gathered in very fine pleats that aternate with vertical rows of floral embroidery through which fine pale pink silk ribbons are threaded. A pretty scalloped ruffle with english cutwork embroidery encircles the neckline and serves as well to form little cap sleeves. The skirt is full and is adorned with a single embroidered ribbon trim two inches from the hem. Two tiny laces are threaded though the collar and can be cinched at the back to gather the neckline and four tiny cloth covered buttons close at the back with embroidered loops. This darling piece is entirely hand made, dates from the early 20th century and is in impeccable condition. Dimensions: overall length 21in., width between the shoulders 9.5in., width across the chest 12in. Suitable for an infant of 9 to 18 months.
