In pure cream colored silk an adorable ensemble of a baby dress with its matching ruffled jacket. This delightful outfit is entirely hand made and although relatively simple in its design, it's elegant and masterful in its construction. The sleeveless dress has a plain bodice trimmed in white Valenciennes lace at the neckline and sleeve openings, a band at the waist defined by delicate white needlework seams, and a full skirt also edged with a pretty white Valenciennes lace border. Eleven tiny white fabric covered buttons fasten down the back with crocheted loops. The billowy jacket has short sleeves, a very full cape-like cut, and a wide 3.5in. ruffle on both sides of the jacket opening which continues along the entire hem of the piece. When worn together, the lace collar and hem of the dress peek out from beneath the frilly ruffled jacket giving a little touch of elegance! All of the seams of both pieces are double stitched such that no threads or fabric edges are visible. Likely dating from the turn of the 20th century, this superb little outfit is in remarkably excellent condition with no wear or weakness to the silk fabric.
