As pretty as they're refined this superb pair of antique pillow shams in loomed of an exceedingly fine and silky pure white "fil de lin" linen." A jewel-like monogram, "LP," is beautifully embroidered in one upper corner in a scrolling bourdon embellished with leaves and Richelieu open-work. The perimeter of each envelope is embroidered with openwork flowers and a lovely crossed drawn-thread row runs between them. A flat ruffle and a tiny hemstitch finish the borders, and each sham closes at the back with six mother-of-pearl buttons. Likely dating from the early 20th century, these exquisite pillow shams are in impeccable condition. Dimensions: interior 27 x 26in., exterior 31 x 30in.
