An ample and very lovely panel of French cotonnade that likely dates from the mid to late 19th century. This beautiful fabric has a typically French, romantic motif of rose garlands and bows in tones of red, pink, avocado green and beige arranged in lengthwise stripes that alternate with an organic leaf motif in a cafe au lait light brown, all on a pale cream ground. The panel, likely having served as a wide curtain, actually consists of three lengths of fabric perfectly matched such that the seams are virtually invisible. (All selvedged edges are intact at the interior of the two seams, such that if the panels were to be separated one would have three identical lengths of fabric measuring 82 inches long by 30 inches wide.) A pretty pale blue and pink fringed trim borders each of the two lengthwise edges. Excellent condition. Dimensions: length 82in., width 79in.
