An angelic little antique christening gown that is just as fresh as the day it was made! This lovely little gown is fashioned in a pretty, pure white, cotton pique with a subtle stripe on the face of the fabric and a soft flannel backing. The bodice and lower part of the skirt are beautifully hand embroidered with curling tendrils of vines and flowers, and all of the edges are finished in hand embroidered scallops - including both edges of the tiny shoulder straps! The style of the robe is a high waisted wrap-around with an opening at the back of the skirt and two cream colored silk ribbons that tie at the waist in the front for an adjustable fit. The straps fasten in the front with mother-of-pearl buttons. Likely dating from the turn of the 20th century, this darling little Christening gown is in impeccable, as-new condition.
