A supremely luxurious antique banquet table service that will make a perfect backdrop for the most elegant of table settings! This stunning tablecloth and twelve napkin set is loomed of a crisp and weighty snow white linen damask with a subtle sheen and an unusual separation in the damask tones. Both the cloth and napkins have a lovely overall pattern of large open-faced poppies and wheat ears loosely scattered throughout the surface and framed by a border frieze with the same floral motif in a more lush concentration. The center of the tablecloth is ornamented with four large and magnificent monograms, "MC," each measuring 8.5" wide by 4" high, the letters hand embroidered to perfection in a scrolling bourdon and accented with finely embroidered flowers and wheat ears. The placement of the monograms is in double mirror image such that each one faces a different side of the table, and as such wherever one is seated, one of the four is visible with its letters right-side up. Each of the twelve napkins has the identical monogram centrally embroidered in a smaller register. The hems of both the cloth and napkins are turned up in typical French fashion to define the borders. Likely dating from the turn of the 20th century, this important and superb banquet table service is in impeccable, as new condition! Dimensions: tablecloth 197 x 79in., napkins 35 x 29in.
