Pure elegance in damask and embroidery! This lovely antique napkin service is loomed of an exquisite pure white and weighty linen damask with a slightly textured weave and a subtle sheen. Each of the twelve napkins features a central monogram, TV or CV, meticulously embroidered in an important relief of bourdon and accented with tiny embroidered flowers. The letters are framed in a damask medallion exhibiting a graceful motif of lilies and the surrounding damask features a stylized fleur de lys motif, the symbol of French nobility. A large frieze of lilies frames each piece and a smaller damask band with yet another fleur de lys motif completes the border. All of the hems are hand-stitched with miniscule points. This stunning service likely dates from the late 19th century and is in impeccable, as-new condition! Dimensions: 31" x 25"
