A magnificent antique napkin service typical of the Napoleon III period of the 1860's to 1870's with its rich and colorful accents. This stunning service of twelve large dinner napkins is loomed of a pure white, very fine and silky linen damask showing a pretty background motif of a flower laden trellis. Each piece is embroidered with a beautiful monogram, "DP," executed in satin stitch with an important relief and graced with delicate embroidered leaves and berries. The red hue of the monogram is picked up in a double frieze of red jacquard leaves and flowers which make for a delightful border frame. All of the hems are hand-stiched with miniscule points. Despite its important age, this exquisite service remains in impeccable, as-new condition! Dimensions: 32 x 28in.
